The Guildford Wind Farm, proposed by Epuron, lies in a remote part of Tasmania’s north-west, approximately 7 km north-east of Waratah. The proposal is for a wind farm of up to 80 wind turbines carefully sited across the project area, generating up to 300 megawatts of power.

The wind farm is in the planning and investigation phase with site surveys currently underway. The key focus of studies at this stage is eagles, as approximately two years of eagle data is required for the assessment and approval process.

ERA prepared and lodged a Notice of Intent (NOI) to the Tasmanian EPA and a referral to the Commonwealth under the Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBCA) on behalf of Epuron, triggering the bilateral agreement between the two levels of government and commencing the formal assessment pathway for the project. The project was deemed a Level 2C by the Tasmanian EPA and Project Specific Guidelines were issued in late 2020.

As specialist studies continue and the wind farm design progresses, ERA continues to provide ongoing environmental and planning advice to Epuron to help navigate the approvals process.
