Boat Harbour Surf Life Saving Club Planning approval
ERA Planning and Environment was engaged by Licht Architecture on behalf of Waratah Wynyard Council to seek the relevant planning approvals for the redevelopment of the existing Boat Harbour Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) within Crown land fronting Boat Harbour.
The redevelopment was in response to an identified action in Council’s Boat Harbour Beach Master Plan, prepared in August 2019. This plan identified the redevelopment of the foreshore areas including the demolition of the existing toilet block, provision of a new centrally located building for the surf club, a café, improved public amenities, new parking areas, outdoor public space and landscaping, and the reconfiguration of Port Road.
ERA worked closely with Licht Architecture to ensure that the development was designed in a sensitive manner to prevent obstruction of views for the residents located behind the development site. This included creating staggered building heights to minimise the bulk and overall visual appearance of the buildings and to minimise visual impacts on the beautiful natural environment of Boat Harbour.
Once constructed, the revitalised precinct will service and support the local community, and the new road and parking areas, passive recreational uses and new public amenities are expected to provide significant benefits.
