As part of our ongoing support for the Tasmanian Walking Company’s projects around the state, ERA was engaged in June 2021 to seek planning approval for a new standing camp located between Safety Cove Reserve and Crescent Bay on the Tasman Peninsula.

The project involved the use of part of the site for overnight accommodation associated with TWC’s Three Capes Track offering. The use includes the construction of tent platforms and a communal shelter with cooking facilities and bathroom amenities connected by a large deck area. Visitors would reach the site via a Pennicott Wilderness Journey boat to an existing licenced mooring on Safety Cove Beach, before walking up to the campsite to rest for the night.

ERA initially provided preliminary planning advice to inform the development and then prepared both the planning application and Natural Values Assessment for assessment by Tasman Council, and a Reserve Activity Assessment for assessment by Parks and Wildlife Service. Planning approval was granted by the Tasman Council in February 2022.

We acknowledge and respect Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the Traditional Owners of Lutruwita (Tasmania).

They are the original custodians of our land and waters. We respect their unique ability to care for country and deep spiritual connection to it.

We honour Elders past, present and emerging whose knowledge and wisdom has and will ensure the continuation of culture and traditional practices.
