Robins Island Wind Farm Planning assessment
Circular Head Council, in its role as planning authority, engaged ERA Planning and Environment to undertake the statutory assessment of the Robbins Island Wind Energy Park planning application. The proposal was for a 122-turbine wind farm, generating up to 900 MW of energy, located on Robbins Island in the state’s far north-west.
ERA was responsible for coordinating the assessment, such as undertaking statutory referrals (including to the Environment Protection Authority), public exhibition, and ensuring the application was assessed in a legislatively correct manner. ERA provided a recommendation to the Council’s elected members for a decision.
The application received a high level of interest during the public exhibition process, and ERA provided a thorough but concise assessment of the application. ERA also ensured that the elected members of Circular Head Council were well briefed on the project throughout the application’s progress.
